Entree of the Day

I am writing this post, and started the blog this past week from Nova Scotia. I am visiting my daughter and son-in-law for two weeks here in beautiful Bedford, (very close to Halifax).

My treasure for today is about food.

I love food, I love trying new recipes and food from different cultures. My daughter Amy and her partner and I went to Finbars:  check it out  an Irish Pub in Bedford Friday night. I saw an entrĂ©e called Boxty and had no idea what it was. Our waitress enthusiastically described and recommended this satisfying comfort food. I would describe it as a potato pancake with personality.

I found this description online from Killarney’s Irish Pub’s website:  http://www.killarneyspub.com/

Boxty
This is Ireland’s form of a potato pancake. As in other cultures,
there are many versions of preparing the Boxty. Killarney’s
uses grated potato with grated carrot & green onion for flavor.
It is then cooked on the flat top until cooked through. Once
cooked, you top it with a filling &  fold it over.

To keep this information authentic I must share this poem that many sites I visited included as part of the Boxty experience. Keep in mind this is a centuries old recipe as you read it :)

Boxty on the griddle,
Boxty in the pan
If you don't cook Boxty,
You'll never have your man.

Here are a couple of links with recipes if you want to try Boxty tonight for dinner.

My Blog Debut

Another first, my first post on my blog. I am thrilled to be here. I am surprised to be here. I was a person who tried to avoid any change or anything new in her life except what was expected or necessary. That’s one of the ways I tried to give myself a sense of security in my life. It didn’t work.

What do I want to do here? Have a new adventure, learn more about myself, meet interesting new people, and have fun.
Why the name Heart’s Desire Treasures? I guess I would say that finding my Heart’s Desire is now my compass for life, or my True North Star to be the person I was created to be, and to live my life authentically. I will be looking for treasures and sharing them here.
I would like to complete this writing with a quote that I think says with beauty and clarity, my personal belief, and I think blogging will be help achieve this.

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.
